About Elushia
Elushia is the heart behind Grounded by the Herd, a space where deep healing, reconnection, and self-discovery unfold through nature and the wisdom of horses. She blends the gentle, body-based approach of Somatic Experiencing®, a pioneering trauma-informed modality, with the powerful presence of a cohesive equine herd, creating a truly unique therapeutic experience.
With a deep respect for the intelligence of the nervous system and the subtle language of the body, Elushia holds space for individuals to reconnect with themselves—beyond words, beyond judgment. In partnership with her intuitive herd, she guides clients into deeper awareness and safety, allowing their own innate wisdom to emerge organically. The horses offer authentic feedback and co-regulation, making them ideal companions for anyone seeking clarity, emotional healing, or a return to their true nature.
Surrounded by the rhythms of the natural world, Elushia's work is both deeply grounded and gently transformative—a return to wholeness through connection, stillness, and the living mirror of the herd.
My Story
Horses have been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child growing up in Northern California, my horse and I would spend dawn to dusk together, exploring the wilderness. We rode for hours, often without seeing another house or person, and in that time together we faced challenges, discovered freedom, and built a deep bond that shaped my understanding of trust, presence, and connection.
Life changed suddenly when I was thrust into the intensity of city living, far from the grounding presence of my childhood companion. Those years brought both excitement and hardship, including traumatic experiences that left lasting marks on my body and heart. At just sixteen, I survived an abusive relationship that put me in hospital — an experience that could have ended my life.
The years that followed became a journey of healing — physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Guided by an inner compass I didn’t always understand, I sought out alternative ways of recovery, embodiment, and self-discovery. Along the way, I was fortunate to learn from wise mentors and guiding lights who helped me rebuild and grow.
These experiences — the freedom of my early years with horses, the challenges of trauma, and the long path of recovery — are what led me to this work. They gave me not only a deep empathy for others navigating pain, but also an innovative approach to healing that blends somatic experiencing, nature-based practices, and the steady, grounding presence of horses.
Today, I feel honored to hold space for others on their own journeys of healing and reconnection — to help them discover that, even in the hardest places, there is a path back to wholeness.
